KASU Radio's Bluesday Tuesday concert series for 2012 will begin with a performance by Rick Lane and the Wolf Pack Band at Newport Country Club on January 10 at 7 p.m.
Guitarist and singer Rick Lane has played old time rock and roll, country and bluegrass for decades in northeast Arkansas. He and band mate Bill Williams were members of the legendary Bobby Lee Trammell band in the 1960s. During the late 1990s, Lane formed a band called the Ridge Riders that later became the Wolf Pack band. Other members include Steve Parnell and Cody Jackson.
In addition to playing at local night spots and special events, Rick Lane and the Wolf Pack band are regular performers for concerts at Craighead Forest band shell arranged by "Hairy Larry" Heyl. Typical Wolf Pack songs include "Big Boss Man," "Susie Q" "Tutti Frutti" and "Arkansas Twist."
The KASU Bluesday Tuesday Concert Series at Newport Country Club features blues related acts, with no cover charge, on the second Tuesday night each month. The free concerts are presented by sponsors ASU-Newport, C & C Distributors, and KASU radio station. As with all KASU concert events, staff members will literally "pass the hat" for the band.
