I just got this immaculate busking machine. Battery powered. Sounds great. Seven Channels. Heavier than I thought it would be. Bigger too. Can’t wait for our post pandemic future when I can gig again.

In honor of the remarkable guitarist Django Reinhardt’s 111th birthday, we offer the only surviving sound footage of him along with the famed Quintet of the Hot Club of France with his musical partner, the equally remarkable, Stephane Grappelli. This short clip from 1938, Jazz Hot, is shown here in its entirety, courtesy of openculture.com, and it never ceases to amaze with each viewing.

“Black lives matter and so does black love; no one wants a life without love, but we have generations of people in our community who haven’t had the tools to actually be in healthy relationships. It seems like people are finally ready to open their eyes to systemic racism in this country, and if we’re going to talk about it, we have to also talk about how it affects our relationships — how we communicate, how we see ourselves, how we treat each other. It’s not always good, even though maybe it could be.” - Robert Glasper

Robert Glasper Experiment: NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert
The third song in this Tiny Desk Concert, explains the jocose pianist
Robert Glasper, first appeared on one of his trio’s albums of acoustic,
instrumental jazz. It was called “F.T.B.” then, though it later acquired
words and a singer and was retitled “Gonna Be Alright” on the record
which won the 2013 Grammy for Best R&B Album. That in itself
provides a sense of the worlds to which Glasper has access; depending on
your point of view, he either freely traverses or explodes those
boundaries.
